April 2014 | Indie Rock · Pop · EDM

Over 75 tracks! Wow, April was so jam packed! I almost questioned my attempts at pioneering the musical horizons and keeping up with it all as an effective presenter! I am still working on my “process flow” here, and may make several changes to my format along the way, but for now, my attempts thus far will pretty well cover the majority of the music I find exciting and relevant. Thank you for following and listening, and as always… Enjoy 😉

Several veterans on this mix; BANKS, Sam Smith, How To Dress Well, HU¢¢i, FiFi Rong, Ta-ku, Phantogram…the list goes on, as well as some exciting new faces! ZHU and Ben Khan are both breaking out with their new, innovative styles and getting some well deserved play time with music bloggers and web based forums. Most impressively, hypem.com and soundcloud, they continue to rack up the plays, shares and <3’s from new found fans daily. I can definitely anticipate more Dendera Music news and features on both of these unique and and exciting artists!

When visiting their facebook “about” section, it’s pretty clear as to the impression he’s planning to make on music fans –  “Music is Faceless… Let my music tell my story.” Letting the music talk and the BS walk.  It’s a respectable approach, especially when you introduce your artistry with an intoxicating, addictive tracks like “Paradise Awaits” and “Faded.”  There is so much anticipation around who is ZHU and what more has he in store, to the delight of our eardrums!?  Definitely do yourself a favor and give it a listen!

London-based neo-soul hero Ben Khan made a name for himself last year with the raw Soundcloud demos “Savage” and “Eden”, unveiling the fully-mixed and mastered 1992 EP (Blessed Vice) 2 weeks ago on Dazed. Already creating a buzz, the EP officially released today, MAY 5th! His diverse sonic world sees bluesy guitar licks team with swampy percussion, subduedvocal melodies and hypnotic throbbing basslines (and the occasional elephant trumpet), in the same vein as contemporaries Child of Lov, Jai Paul and Jungle. Meanwhile, opening track “Youth” sees Khan stepping out of the shadows with a brighter leap forwards, featuring euphoric synths and sun-drenched vocals, elevating the 21 year-old’s refreshing cocktail of neo-soul to the next level of accomplished ability. – (dazeddigital.com)
